Should all public education be free, including state colleges and universities?

Obviously this would mean heavier taxation; would it be worth it in the long run? Would we have a more educated public and better government as a result? Thanks to all who share.

yes education should be fee - Would heavier taxation still make it worth it in the long run? My answer is that the cost in heavier taxation would buy competence, self respect and a better ability to be employed. Would we like that? Please also consider that a better educated public would result in better leaders elected by better informed voters . Please - education and its resulting knowledge is tantamount.
