so i went dress shopping yesterday, as i got married on a cruise, but my husband's mom was bugging him that she never saw the wedding, etc, so he promised her that on our anniversary (next spring) we'd re-new our vows for everyone who couldn't be at our wedding. there was a reason we got married on a cruise, i didn't want to deal with all the people you only see at a wedding or death, but whatever,

so i went dress shopping yesterday, wow, the worst day of my life. so i took my 2 best friends, my sister in law, my mom, my aunt, my sister, nightmare, well they argued over every dress i tried on (i only tried on 4, i couldn't take it anymore) they couldn't agree on anything and instead of acknowledging that they are all different they started arguing over why the others should agree with them,

the consultant was really nice, she told me a lot of people come alone, then they just take pictures or have the consultant take pictures of them in the dresses they really like so they can come home and make a decision based on the pictures.

so i'm wondering who did you take dress shopping with you? was it a good or bad experience, i'm paying for my dress so i don't have to have my parents agree on it, did you have a good time? would it be better if i had them take pic of the dresses i like and then just pick a dress from them at home?

have a great holiday weekend

Sorry to hear about the hastle you had!!
Simply go shopping again by yourself without the entourage and see what you find that you like.
By all means take your sister with you if you trust her opinion to be honest. Choose the dress that is most flattering and most you.

Don't ask anyone else's opinion... they can wait and be surprised! If they ask... say it is a surprise... and with a cheeky grin say; they will have to wait to see!!

I took No one, simply because all my friends and family were 1,400+ km away in Australia.
Also I never went dress shopping for my wedding dress, never tried any ready-made dresses on!

I knew the princess line style really suited me and I had a dream dress in mind that had to be made... there are no gowns like it available... so it was fabric and pattern shopping; then found a great dressmaking teacher and made the gown under her guidance.
Which is now... unaffordable!

My bridal consultant who sold me the fabric and lace was fantastic and helped me design the lace hem and place the final laces on the skirt and made up my veil... with love!
She was so excited seeing the nearly finished gown she called the whole bridal department staff over, pluss the sewing room staff down to see the gown!
There was about 10 to 15 people standing there going WoW! Look at the jacket!! the boots!! take the jacket off and show the gown's bodice!! Put the jacket on... Look at all the work that has gone into it!!"
Their final opinion was one word... Regal!
Their excitement at seeing the gown I'd made is part of the highlights and a very fond memory of my wedding dress preparations.
