There is a good list, but you really have to look around and see who is a student of the game, not just the best at their position. I'll name a couple.

Peyton Manning- This to me is a no brainer. He basically already is the head coach on that team. Dungy manages the game sure and the general strategy, but Manning is given the freedom to change just about anything about a play right their on the field from a route adjustment, to a different play entirely. He would obviously be an asset to any team with a young QB and/or WRs, and I think has a real shot at doing this once his playing years have passed. Other guys like Brady and Favre i dont think are ready. While both are great QBs, Favre is to emotional and himself possesses some wild qualities. Brady i just dont think would be interested in the job, but might make a great position coach.

Torry Holt - A true character guy and a hard worker. Holt would excel in an offensive coordinator role, or a positional coach role at WR. He is one of the smartest receivers in the game today, runs perfect routes, and knows how to fight for the ball in space.

Warrick Dunn- You may think this is an unusual selection, but Dunn is a true humanitarian off the field, he has sponsored and in many cases founded numerous charities in both the Tampa Bay and Atlanta areas. He also has lots of experience in a variety of offenses, in his prime he was considered a very versatile back. You also will not find a more humble guy in a spot like him.

Derrick Brooks- This guy may be the most brilliant mind on the defensive front in the NFL. Not only does he have extreme credentials (10x pro bowl selection, 2002 super bowl ring and NFL Defensive player of the year) he also possesses timeless experience at the Linebacker position, essentially the QB of the defense. He was part of one of the greatest defenses in NFL history (2002 Tampa Bay buccs) and also won a national championship while at Florida State in 1993. If not a head coach, he definitely could be a defensive coordinator.
