I find some of the answers in the Royal Forum hard to understand. Should there be a translation service?

Take this one for instance what does it mean ?
'This thread has a terrible problem with trolls and impersonators, all who seek to force their anti-royalist swill down the throats of others, even those members who just come here to answer questions using facts that they've researched. These trolls all should be reported by using the report abuse button. The more people who complain about the guideline breakers(it is against the rules to disguise anti-anything rhetoric as a question or response) the better the chances that these transgressors will have their questions, answers, and for some, their accounts, deleted.'
What the heck is a thred ?

Why is it that a Royal Forum American contributor who impersonates a British Barrister is critical of others?
Asked By Dode,Last Answer By connor g At 2011.02,1 Answers

Here is a recent statement
'I think it is sad that Answers is being abused by these people. Questions such as you have pointed out ought to be reported, but these trolls block the more trustworthy members from replying or reporting. The only thing a person can do is block them as well.'

How can a person who pretends to be something she has never qualified to be use the word trustworthy.
PS. I am 'these people'

Why is it that people in the Royal Forum make a huge fuss over so called trolls not taking email?
Asked By Dode,Last Answer By The Real Queen Mum At 2011.02,1 Answers

Particularly when their profiles state that they do not accept e mail.
PIG aka Lord Lucan says to another user ( An American Barrister) Clo, it would be easier to fight the trolls if emails were allowed to be sent.

Examination reveals that
PIG aka Lord Lucan does not allow email.
Clo does not allow email.
Lord Loocan does not allow email.

Blogware ignoramus here. I semi-understand CMS. What software should I be looking at for a literature forum?
Asked By TD Euwaiteâ„¢,Last Answer By rolygate At 2009.12,1 Answers

You have two basic options here:

1. Set up your website with a CMS, and have an integral forum.
2. Just have a forum - possibly with a couple of static pages for other information.

1: You don't say if you have a site already or not, but if the answer is no, in your position I would install an easily-managed CMS (content management system) that includes a forum. Such a CMS would allow you to have any content pages you liked, plus photos, graphics and so on. The forum would be a plugin for the CMS and would do everything you need.

In this situation I recommend Joomla 1.0.15 with the Fireboard forum. It will do everything you need and also have a lot of capacity for expansion.

2: If you simply want a forum, with no additional content (information etc) pages, then you should choose from among the many offered for this purpose.

Here I would strongly recommend SMF, the simple machines forum. It is ideal for standalone purposes like this and the community is very strong - which is an important factor in open-source software. In addition it has suffered from none of the bad security problems and similar issues that have affected its close rivals.

All these programs are server software of the dynamic type, ie you install them, via the web, using just your browser, on a normal, standard server. They work off databases - the pages do not physically exist. This is transparent to visitors of course.

However, hosting facilities vary and you should check off these features below, some of which are vital, some advisable:

LAMP server type (= a normal Linux / Apache one)
cPanel control panel
FTP access
MySQL databases (at least 1 needed, 2 or 3 better)

The links below take you to advice pages on CMS with forums, and standalone forums. You will also find advice on hosting issues there.

What can we do, as Yahoo! Answers Hockey contributors (regular and new), do to make this forum better?
Asked By Snoop,Last Answer By Awesome Bill At 2011.03,1 Answers

For the past few weeks, the quality of content here on this forum is creeping to "Beverly Hills Cop 3" territory: it has some good points, but the overall picture is not good. In fact, two valuable contributors have decided that it's not even worth their time or trouble to join in on questions and answers, while some of us do not frequent as often as before (yours truly included).

Let's face it: we all love hockey here, and there just needs to be an overhaul of garbage that has plagued this fun spot on the internet for all of us. What can we do as a small community to better this forum?
