A question about labels: what do you think about this thought?
Asked By Flyinghorse,Last Answer By teeleecee At 2010.10,1 Answers

The other night I was talking to a very intelligent (American) man about the dynamics in this GWS category in Yahoo. I was saying I honestly couldn't understand the hate towards feminism, as I see it as so necessary in so many countries from which I have first hand experience.

He told me, the problem is the label, he thought it was time to change the name. As an example he said, that it had been very intelligent to give the name of "Civil Rights" instead of for example, "Afroamericanism", as this last label could have created misinformation and negativity.

What is in a name? What is in a label? Do you think it is time to change the name of "feminism"? If so which name could we give to it? Perhaps just "Human Rights"? Although feminism is already part of Human Rights. So many questions arise from this thought

I thought I'd stun you with another thought-provoking question...?

Okay, so it's not that thought-provoking. Or maybe it is. Let me know later because I'm getting myself all confused at the moment.

I have this friend who's obsessed with a couple of things I told him a few weeks ago. Apparently it's uncommon to know that the "57" on the Heinz Ketchup was originally put on the bottle to brag that Heinz could grow 57 different types of pickles. Or that elephants can't jump. Or that the fourth dimension is called a tesseract. I just kind of pick up trivia.

So now he's asked me to tell him a new something or other every day. It's becoming quite difficult! Over the past couple of years, I've definitely gathered my fair share of weird facts, but I'm not equipped to tell him 365 tidbits a year!

So what weird facts do you know? Are you in a sharing kind of mood?

Thanksssss :)

A question I never thought I would ever ask... How do i care for my daughters ear piercing - SERIOUSLY?
Asked By blah,Last Answer By mystic_eye_cda At 2010.08,1 Answers

I trusted my in laws to have my daughter for an hour this morning, they said they were taking her to see her great gran, who hadnt been feeling too well (nothing contagious, just old age). I said ONE hour, have her back by 11.30 so she can have lunch at 12 and her nap at 1pm.

MIL text me saying she had a suprise for me - she brought jy daughter in with bits of gold in her ears. I wont even get into what was was said. My daughter was extremely upset, I gave her calpol and she cuddled into me on the couch, I tried to remove the earring which caused her a lot of stress till I ended up having to restrain her to remove them. She seemed a little happier. She wont eat her lunch, and she was falling asleep on me, but everytime her head dropped onto the side on her ear she would wake up crying.

She finally gave in 15min ago and is lying on her back on the sofa beside me.

How do I care for her ears to make sure they dont get infected? Is there something specific I should clean them with?

(I require no advice on dealing with the in laws, believe me - I dealt with them, and my partner is going to see them when he finishes work)

Do you agree that Congress should create a National Population Policy? If so, what would you recommend as its chief goals? If not, how do you propose we solve this problem?

Idiotic labels?
Asked By tastybits,Last Answer By not singing the yahoo tune At 2009.12,1 Answers

Some examples of why the human race has probably evolved as far as possible. These are actual instruction labels on consumer goods...

On Sears hairdryer:
Do not use while sleeping.
(Gee, that's the only time I have to work on my hair!)

On a bag of Fritos:
You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside.
(The shoplifter special!)

On a bar of Dial soap:
Directions: Use like regular soap.
(and that would be how?)

On some Swann frozen dinners:
Serving suggestion: Defrost.
(But it's 'just' a suggestion!)

On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert: (printed on bottom of the box)
Do not turn upside down.
(Too late! you lose!)

On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding:
Product will be hot after heating.
(Are you sure? Let's experiment.)

On packaging for a Rowenta iron:
Do not iron clothes on body.
(But wouldn't that save more time?)
(Whose body?)

On Boot's Children's cough medicine:
Do not drive car or operate machinery.
(We could do a lot to reduce the construction accidents if we just kept those 5 year olds off those fork lifts.)

On Nytol sleep aid:
Warning: may cause drowsiness.
(One would hope!)

On a Korean kitchen knife:
Warning: keep out of children.
(hmm...something must have gotten lost in the translation...)

On a string of Christmas lights:
For indoor or outdoor use only.
(As opposed to use in outer space.)

On a food processor:
Not to be used for the other use.
(Now I'm curious.)

On Sainsbury's peanuts:
Warning: contains nuts.
(but no peas?)

On an American Airlines packet of nuts:
Instructions: open packet, eat nuts.
(somebody got paid big bucks to write this one...)

On a Swedish chainsaw:
Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands.
(Raise your hand if you've tried this...)

On a child's Superman costume:
Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly.
(Oh go ahead! That's right, destroy a universal childhood belief.)
